Thanks Q3.
MO is in many, many ways southern, especially culturally, language, food, religion, family values. In others a bit more midwestern (ie. transportation, industry, farming, racial divide). But for this discussion, where DC moved around between 3 different states that were all southern, I honestly just picked one, and did not see why this needed to be a 5 page discussion.
12 out of 13 winners are southern, 1 midwest. None are east or west coast. It's the reality of this show. And Q3 added a few other statistics, that make all this even more apparent.

Having lived in St. Louis MO for two years while hubby was in law school, I will repeat this mantra - Missouri is the home of northern charm and southern efficiency. Hope that explains it all?

My most favorite moment on Idol and the moment I burst into tears was when Adam beat Gokey and Kris and Adam were the remaining two. I don't know why but I was so afraid something would go wrong for Adam and I was sweating it the whole time. When they announced Adam's name, I don't think I ever felt such joy. Of course I wanted him to win, but beating Gokey for me was a win. Tell me I am an awful person. I don't care. I just know how this country was at that time. I have such memories that never leave me from a little nothing reality show that turned out to mean so much to so many of us.

Been reading all the comments about Adam's fellow contestants on Idol & I just have to say a word in defense of Michael Sarver. I know he was a dickhead at first but I heard an interview he did with Adam Lambert Radio on 3-20-2013. I bookmarked the link because I was so impressed with what Sarver said. Adam changed his view of the world. It's a long interview with a ton of crap in it. Sarver even leaves for a few minutes & I think they play Adam's music while they're waiting for him to come back! Pretty dorky interviewer too, but about halfway through he gets really serious about how Adam affected his life. And I believe he says something about how he never got to tell Adam about how much he admired him & how much his viewpoint changed after meeting Adam. It's worth a listen because I guarantee you it will change your opinion of Michael Sarver. www.blogtalkradio.com/juneauxena/2013/03/21/juneau-xenas-salon

Gokey's votes went to Kris; Adam became the runner-up. I think the Lambert family knew once Allison was dumped that the outcome was pretty predictable. Adam has always been extremely gracious in defeat and continues to thank Idol for helping to launch his career. It's one of many traits that I admire in the man. I agree about Adam being gracious and I admire that. I am not so sure, however, about the "Gokey votes to Kris" theory. The most important thing is that it really does not matter. This is one vote that America did not get right -- and it is more 0evident now than ever.

He is a very decent man and is doing OK in part (I believe) because he is a decent man.
