So, fun fact, thanks to that super slowed down version of the video (posted at the top of p.42 at around the 7:50 mark) - @grayjoey is totally wearing Adam's shirt: I knew it looked familiar.

I thought I would see a real ghost town. I thought I would see that raven and that bridge and the broken Hollywood sign. Isn't that what this song was supposed to mean? Dreams of dying; just like Bodie or Old Hollywood. But that was too easy! Too conventional. Too understandable and predictable. Feel like I entered the art gallery and walked into the unexpected wing; and while I love paintings of landscapes and flowers and distant horizons - (which I somehow understand), instead I'm brought into the room filled with abstracts, mood, gray color, angles. Art I don't understand. Yet, I stay and wander through it again. It's intriguing. I get the decay . . . the beauty, the emptiness of beauty in the discarded. I'm waiting for the story - the narrative of this Ghost Town. Then it hits me. There is no narrative when your heart is a ghost town. Finally! Someone has seized on the beauty of Adam Lambert. Someone has noticed his eyes; his laser eyes; his hooded brows; his facial bone structure; his posture and his beautiful, physical form. I have nothing but praise for the naturalness of the lighting on Adam as the video begins. It so compliments his stunning, unadorned, voice. There are moments in this video that take my breath away. When he bends backwards; superimposed on the dancer who does the same; when he snaps his fingers; when he pulls the collar up and transforms into someone else, in a second - right there! - before us . . . Yes, someone seized Adam and found his eyes and his art. I'm still not sure of how to interpret it or how to love it. I certainly didn't expect it; didn't see the beauty of the dancers, or expect them in a 'Ghost Town' of the soul. Are these Adam dreams? They certainly aren't mine . . . but that's the bliss and the magic of music, art, creation. Yet, they beckon my curiosity and I watch again, and again. It's beautiful. He is beautiful. And the music is hypnotic; especially as paired with smoke and bodies; exquisite bodies in motion. Most exquisite of all is Adam. Wow. My heart is a ghost town. As I mentioned earlier our poets like yourself will help us all to interpret this mystical song. And as you have brushed the canvas with your words I can see the lead in images of abandoned houses and abandoned houses, the ghost town of a modern spaghetti western. So a not to the Good the Bad and the Ugly but wisely taking it to something else entirely and by such a wide departure that no one watching it thinks of spaghetti western by the end of the video. The mood of the Good and the Bad is there with the two versions of Adam, with the Ugly probably less visual and more metaphorically the emotional emptiness. I think this video will be mixed and remixed as well as watched and rewatched. There is a lot there as Q3 said with so many layers it will take time to sort out. For me I was tantalized by finding the images of Adam. It's like one of those puzzle pictures where you play "I spy with my little eye". I'm avoiding the slowed down version because I want the challenge of finding all those hidden gems myself.

I absolutely love what Adam is doing with this song and this video. I love the alchemy of it. He has managed to mix genres, melody, dance, and a club vibe. He has even managed to mix in a hip hop vibe by associating this with Hype Williams, but not having the obligatory rap mixed in. It is a risk, but, that's Adam. If it all works, it will be seen as nothing but ...genius. Adam Lambert is quite a freaking roller coaster. Hold on to your butts!!!! TRUE THAT!

NGL, I'm having difficulty with the negativity over the MV. I sometimes think that Adam's fans have expectations for him that are unreachable. I have come to the conclusion that Adam will never please all his fans with any choice he makes so he should just do whatever the hell he likes. Agreed!!! Love the video. It's right up there for me with FYE. I didn't care at all for the TP era ones. Adam will never please everybody. It makes me incredibly happy that he must have had such a blast shooting this video with many of his friends. How cool is that? Priceless.

GT: The world sucks, Hollywood sold out, Elvis is dead, and my heart is empty. I am depressed. So what do I do now? Of course, I go party in black and white with everyone that was supposed to be "spread".Do you see why I feel GT video makes no sense in the context of the song? I agree that if you take away the dancing part and leave only the shots of Adam, that stuff is quite powerful (and the "vampires" shot is genius, as we saw in the screenshot a week ago already). I understand the music is also schizophrenic, but I expected the video to be about something since the song is. It is of course totally my fault that I expected more substance than form. The form is quite good though, and because there is something there for everyone (including hetero males), I will go and watch it to keep the counter going up. I LOVE the song itself. I feel it will be a big success, and my personal feelings are unimportant in this case, but I had to write this wall of text to make me feel better, as I have no black and white party to go to... Are you saying that the partying with friends part doesn't seem to fit the idea that everyone is supposed to be spread? I have a slightly different interpretation. In spite of the fact that the video is full of his friends and they are all partying and dancing. None of them seem to be interacting with each other. They are all quite separate really even when they are physically close and Adam never seems to see them even when they are right near him so it gives me the impression of disconnectedness or even perhaps that they are only really there in his dream and so not able to connect with him. To me it fits in perfectly with the meaning of the song. Two interesting perspectives, kryptoman68 and rihannsu. Thanks for sharing. I can relate to and agree with much of what you wrote in your original post, kryptoman68, except for the part about the dancing/partying not making sense in the context of the song... For me, the beat and the whistling act as an uplifting counterpoint to the melancholy of the lyrics. They convey the "don't worry" and the "life goes on" feelings that most ordinary songs would have expressed through words. And so, yes... let's dance!

It's interesting reading all the comments today about Adam's video--and I believe that if he read them, he would be very happy and also think that he proved his point -- that the music and video are supposed to make you feel something. As an artist, he doesn't expect everybody will like what he does--and as a true artist, he knows that pushing the envelope and going for a certain vision certainly won't be for everyone. That is what a true artist does -- put their art out there to provoke a reaction. Whether a person likes this video or not, it is doing it's job because we are all talking about it. I also can't wait to see it on a big screen and bet it would be amazing if I were stoned (*cough* living in land of legal weed *cough*) although I doubt that will happen (not really my thing).

Well, I hope those who are underwhelmed with the video will still give it lots of hits. You don't have to watch it. Only 587 views so far.
