just musing- Anyone wonder why the OoL lyrics are "rot in hell" and not "burn in hell" which would make much more sense to me? "Burn in hell" would have been REALLY biblical, which, as I think of it, they wanted to avoid. The issue that the song addresses isn't about just christians against gays, but about the general atmosphere against gays (for example: The media brouhaha about Apple's new CEO being gay. WTF does it matter, and why it's news?) "Rot in hell" doesn't have to mean biblical hell. A person can rot in prison, or in a lower level of society where he can't rise out of. Personally I think that "rot in hell" is better than "burn in hell". A person thinking first that "rot in hell" is a "wrong" version of the saying of which the biblical form would be the "right" form actually tells something about the person thinking... (says an atheist)

I wondered about this also, and a group of us ATopers discussed this at a recent get-together. I do think that "burn" makes more sense both logically and also sound-wise. "Rot" is more jarring to the ear. My guess is that Adam went for the more shocking of the two words. "Burn in hell" is more familiar and therefore becomes one of the phrases your mind skims over without any thought. "Rot," on the other hand, is such an ugly word, and coupled with "hell" becomes a really ugly image. Which makes you think about just exactly how hateful people are who say such things. I think he made the right choice. ETA: Hahah! Q3 and Gelly, we are on the same page! :D

Brilliant minds -- we wrote the same thing at the same time. I think that Adam got his message thru.

See, that's just it, tigerlily, HAVE they happily consumed that which was dictated to them to consume? My question is are they setting the precedent or are they being preyed upon? I think it's a little of both. And people wonder why teens are the key demographic on these things? IDK, but I wish I did know the secret to what would catch on with teens/tweens/young adults because it would make me a TON of money! They like what they like. High School kids started watching Jersey Shore because everyone at school was talking about it and it was fun to make fun of the idiot losers on the show who party all the time. MTV didn't force this show on the younger generation. They simply presented it, and it caught on- in a HUGE way. The producers of Jersey Shore and MTV were utterly surprised with the huge ratings for this silly reality show. I don't think anyone can predict what is going to catch on, and to what level, for any age. Who could have predicted the worldwide fascination with Susan Boyle? I don't understand the "Boyle fascination", but I can't deny that it exists. Just because I don't understand why certain music, shows or people are popular- doesn't mean that I can't aknowledge the fact that tons of other consumers or viewers must feel very different than I do. In short- there are tons of artists and shows that are popular that I care nothing about, but they are at the top of their category because millions of others do care about them.

Simon Cowell called that one. Not a fan of Cowell but he understands that marketplace. That is why he is so successful.

An observation: Adam has said he has an "out of body" experience sometimes. The artistic person tends to "mind float" and are not as tied to this planet as are the organized business "down to earth" types. This of course is why they are so creative. They are not as bound by the "rules" as others. I had a girlfriend who said she has to work to stay focussed on earthly issues. She would just float off. So time does not necessarily exist for many as the clock and calendars record. Physics states that in other dimensions, time does not exist. Time and space is a contruct of the 3rd dimension. I just want to fly with him where ever he goes! I agree that artistic and creative people are "somewhere else" but "out of body" for me is only during a performance and the cause is performance stress. The performer is always nervous while performing, even if it doesn't show, but sometimes it is so intense that you feel that your body is doing the job automatically and you are outside of it watching, without controlling it and feeling helpless and the more you try to calm yourself, the more stressed you become.

Simon Cowell called that one. Not a fan of Cowell but he understands that marketplace. That is why he is so successful. IMO the Boyle fascination is because she is not conventionally attractive. If she was a conventionally pretty woman then no one would give a shit because frankly, while her voice is nice, it's nothing earth shatteringly spectacular or ground breaking. People got caught up in her *story*. The whole don't judge a book by it's cover thing. Here was this plain Jane woman who seemed a little odd who came out and had this amazing talent. The ugly duckling who made good. I remember when she came out a lot of people talked about how she and her story "gave them hope". It's a good story...period and I srsly doubt she would have become the phenomenon she did if she didn't have that story to play off of.

Well, SuBo is the classic rags-to-riches Cinderella story that Simon loves to promote on his shows. People love to think that under the right circumstances, the good-hearted nobody can get their reward. The modern-day version is fame & fortune instead of an prince, but same idea. It's why hardcore AI people tend to dislike the more "polished" performers with actual musical experience and knowledge about presentation.

Has anyone heard anything about the date of Adam's Project Runway episode? I wondered if maybe it was posted and I missed it? I was curious and tried to figure out when his episode might be airing and came up with either September 22 or September 29. Episode 3 was filmed on June 24 in Battery Park and aired on August 11. I read an interview from last year with Nina Garcia, who said that the show shoots every two days. So, if that schedule still holds true for this season--and assuming they film two shows a week, not three--then they might have been filming Episode 9 on July 14 - 15, when Adam was in New York. Episode 9 is scheduled to air on September 22 and is apparently titled "Image Is Everything." Before, I thought maybe they'd play a bit of Adam's new music in the background during the episode. I wonder if there's still the slightest chance for a snippet? I love the new song title. Very evocative. I already have a melody running through my head--though I'm sure it's all wrong! Hi misha! I don't have any answers, but I can't WAIT for this episode! I'm not optimistic about an extended appearance for Adam, however. I'm assuming, since he only filmed one day, that he will be a guest judge for the runway show. The previous judges this season have been almost invisible - shown only a couple of times. I'm hoping that Adam has so many amazing things to say, with crazy charisma, that they'll show an extended look.

However long Adam filmed, he seems to have made quite an impression on Nina Garcia.
