A couple of questions: What type of Pop/HAC songs do the fans, who are members here, hope to hear on Adam's second album? Instead of wishing for everything from Opera to Broadway to Standards to Cabaret, etc.- what type of Pop songs are you wishing for? Do you want more Dance songs, songs with a little more Rock or a little more R&B flavor, more HAC leaning songs? Other than Adam, :)what other artists are you listening to at this time? How about over the last year? Have your choices in music changed over the past couple of years, or are you basically listening to the same type of music you were listening to BA?(Before Adam) I delurked just to answer this question . I want anything that makes his voice stand out. I think this is why people enjoyed the songs he sang on idol because they were songs that showcased his voice. I don't think the first album did that. I understand what mszue is saying because certain kinds of music does showcase his voice better, such as Mad World and ACIGC. I wasn't particularly happy with the music on his first album though but I did really enjoy the performance part of it on tour. This is where he shined. If he can get great music that showcases his incredible voice and allows him to perform in a way that pleases his fans he will explode on the scene, imho. Adam made some mistakes the first time around and I think he has learned from them, so I'm looking forward to a more humble and wiser singer and entertainer this go around. I think he'll deliver. Back to lurking. Sing it sistah!! Why you lurking anyway, Jo???Great post!

Do you want more Dance songs, songs with a little more Rock or a little more R&B flavor, more HAC leaning songs? I'd like a mixture of songs, everything from HAC to more rock leaning works for me. I'm not a fan of dance music so I have no wish for that at all. I'm excited to hear the studio version of OOL and hope he has some songs along the lines of WWFM on there. Adam hasn't changed my choices in music at all. I'm still more of a alternative rock fan than any other genre of music. I'm currently listening to a band called Skillet. They have an amazing song called Monster that I'm completely addicted to. Also Adele is in heavy rotation on my ipod at the moment. Muze we'll just have to agree to disagree about how big the audience would be for songs like those performed by Adam at Upright. I think the audience would be minute and hardly worth pursuing but who knows.

In the interest of giving poor Mszue a break (and all those who took any 5 words out of her posts and argued about those get a break too) I'll try redirecting the career advice section of this blog, I want to suggest that Adam could really have a future as an ITT Technician and here is why: We all dream of spending a couple of hours with him. Well I have never seen a computer technician spend less than that to fix my problems - so that would work out well. I would not complain at all. Would gladly spend the inflated hourly technician rates - hey, many of us gladly paid 175 USD for 30 seconds...that would be some hourly rate if you think about it. He clearly would make millions every year. Now I understand that not every technician serenades while working, but at this rate we could ask for a bit of that, I'm sure. No you do not get to receive other services while the disc scans and other IT tools of the trade are humming away, Adam is taken, and anyway...what a bunch of dirty minds here - tz..... Adam always said he wanted to go into a more electronic direction - so ITT -Tech, here we go. Adam wanted to work with people - ITT - Tech, here we go. Adam wanted to have a bunch of dimmers - the perfect career to fulfill such a dream. So when you are all done arguing about Adam's future in opera, Gregorian chant, hip-hop, standards and jazz I can now look forward to an engaging debate about the pros and cons of Adam's prospects in this field, can I - can I? please........ Hmmm. Now that's an idea. Electronics. You ARE talking about house calls, yes? Maybe he could writhe around in your desk chair while he's running a virus scan. Throw in a few neck rolls and lip licks. And after the first hour he'll need to get up and stretch. Maybe a few chest pops and a high kick (ala end of Sure Fire Winners). Yes, you are definitely onto something big here. Holst!! Great way to end my night..thanks..virus scan, lol... LMAO Also Reihmer and Cayman...

Related to the discussion of the size of Adult Contemporary music, it is a niche market that may not be worth chasing. Here are the 2009 global music sales or recorded music by genre:
1 Pop 29.2 2 Rock 25.7 (over 40% is catalog sales, classic rock) 3 R&B 6.3 4 Country 5.9 5 Classical 5.5 6 Dance 5.2 7 Rap/Hip-hop 5.1 8 Jazz 2.5 9 Other 14.6 (AC is in here)

How about over the last year? Have your choices in music changed over the past couple of years, or are you basically listening to the same type of music you were listening to BA?(Before Adam) Great questions! Well, as far as Adam's album, I'd love sexy pop songs a la Natalia Kills. Her album is amazing, and a song like Mirrors would be awesome, although it gets into the whole-- 'is it too sexy to be sung by a man' issue. I'd also love a song like Adele's Rolling in the Deep. Something like Eminem/Rihanna Love The Way You Lie (duet with a female hiphop artist) would be very cool. I think P!nk-style songs would be great for him-- like Please Don't Leave Me. And I'm also in love with a new-to-me band, The Parlotones. They're South African, and classified as indie/alt, but one review called it "intellectual dance music" LOL. Here's a good example: And yeah, my musical taste has definitely expanded, BA. I've always liked some pop music, but I've discovered lots of artists that I love, directly or indirectly through Adam-- Sia, Scissors Sisters, Rihanna, (some) Jessie J, etc. I loved Gaga before Adam, and I really love her latest album. Songs like that for Adam would make me happy, too. NoAngel I'm in love with the Parlotones too! Who'd a thunk it! Ever since I saw that fantastic vid for "Stars Fall Down" mentioned the other day on twitter, I can't get enough of them. They're gonna be in Atlanta on October 14th...would love to see them, but it's a long drive over and back. I understand you're gonna see them the lst of Nov.......I'm so jealous!

I'm so excited! They're multiplatinum in SA, but uphill slogging trying to break into other countries. They play arenas at home, but I'll see them in a tiny (350-capacity) club in SF-- yay!

Ok I know in that song he sings "avoid the void" but I can't help but hear the word NOID instead because, yes, I still remember those awful 80's commercials for Dominoes. LOL. I can't be the only one now can I? Haha...I've totally missed everything else that's happened today, but I just had to respond to this (I don't think anybody else has?) ... Respond in a desperately OT manner that is, natch... I remember The Noid well, lol..in fact, I'll never forget him, because years ago, when he was in high school, my older brother ran a rogue campaign for student council president that crucially involved the Noid. My bro was the campaign manager for one of his best friends, who, like my brother and the rest of their friends was a bit of an outsider/weirdo in school. His friend's oponent was a girl very much in the popular crowd who was the vast favorite. My brother came up with the concept of dubbing this poor girl "The Noid," and then getting Dominoes to give them, for free, 100s of "Avoid the Noid" buttons and stickers for free, which soon everybody in the school was wearing. The unfortunate girl still won, by the slimmest of margins, but was known as "The Noid" for the rest of her high school career. Kids are cruel.
