Annie Lennox cover of Every Time We Say Goodbye One of the saddest, most beautiful songs ever. I cry every time I hear it. Halleluyah - Jeff Buckley one of the best! It's a Wonderful World - Louis Armstrong It just makes me happy. Falling Slowly - Glen Hansard This song is one of those I love so much that I can't handle anyone else covering it, LOL, sorry KA Harvest Moon - Neil Young Once in a Lifetime - Talking Heads I just love everything about this song There are so many! My husband and I have been listening to favorites for two hours now thinking about our top 5, LOL. We didn't even really get to the new songs we like, but now it's time to get moving. We did watch a documentary on BM last night, and my husband wants to go next year. RL has been so busy since school started again, but love it here and love all of you and try to at least read the main thread everyday. I can't wait for new Adam music!

On break perused first few pages of ATOP and my songs are being taken so I’m going to jump right in with 5 off the top of my head. And I’m not choosing any Adam songs because they are a given, especially BROKEN OPEN.
1. ME AND BOBBY MCGEE Janis Joplin/ written by K Kristofferson 2. FAITH George Micheal 3. HOUSE OF THE RISING SUN The Animals 4. OLD TIME ROCK ’N ROLL Bob Seeger ( Because I smile and get all riled up any time this song comes on) 5. STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN Led Zeppelin

Oh let me add anything by The Police or The Cars bc I grew up listening to them lol. I also love me some new wave 80's music and wish I was born a wee bit earlier to fully embrace all the 80's awesomeness and neon spandex. I love me some dicso divas too. Don't Leve Me This Way by Thelma Houston is such a perfect disco diva song.
Madona's Papa Don't Preach is one of my faves from her, Annie Lennox 'Why,' Warren G's 'Regulate' gives me goosebumps even tho it's a throwback rap jam, Pharrell and N.E.R.D/Neptunes are AMAZING. Listen to Lapdance and try not to go nuts. If We Ever by David Guetta and Makeba gives me chills. FLOVE. Garbage was a pretty awesome band in the mid 90's. Stupid Girl was my jam, and Cherry Lips is a newer song from them and is awesome. Salt n Pepper's What a Man and None of Your Business are the bestest.
And I am rlly digging the new song Raise Your Weapon by Deadmau5
Ugh such a hard time making lists so I am just throwing out random shit that pops into my head.
Atomic Dog by George Clinton!! That's a song they always played at my middle school dances. LMAO. Good times.
Oh someone just mentioned the Talking Heads...Pyscho Killer is one of their best songs imo.

One less person releasing an album this fall to compete against Adam. twitter.com/#!/axestatic/status/110043313318539265 @axestatic Madonna's new album - Spring 2012! wp.me/poJOv-29MMadonna’s new album – Spring 2012!Madonna who is currently in Italy promoting her movie “W.E.” was asked about her next album and she revealed that the 1st single is expected sometime in February-March and that the full album will be released the spring of 2012! thx, Lulu. Now the question is - will she tour? and will there be a conflict for Monte? Someone asked earlier, "Why no Top 40 songs? Is it because we are too old?" My answer is "Yes!!" << ETA: That sounds harsh! :( It probably is just because many members here have admitted that they do not listen to Top 40 radio. There are lots of great top 40 songs from recent years. Will they pass the test of time? Who knows right now. Only time will tell. This is the first one that comes to mind: Then these: I could go on and on with great songs from the past 5 years. But you get the idea. mys*&@^#r - I don't think it's "harsh". I think it is normal to be attached to the type of music one grew up with, listend to during one's 20's and 30's... so the songs you mentioned will probably be the "measure stick" for a specific generation... I listened to all you posted... Adele sounds totally american country, complete with some Southern drawl at times...so strange... to me -this also explains the sales numbers now - country music buying power is huge it seems (ala Carrie...), It makes sense that she actually said she is going to cross into it (as far as it was posted here).. I have no doubt some Adam's songs will stand the test of time I would personally prefer BO and OOL to WWFM (which I dislike), but hey - perhaps he'll have some other EPIC material on Adam #2 ! Ok, it is such fun - I am cleaning and listening to all your selections! going back to page 7 to catch up! Re THE BURN: I am sure there is some kind of "philosophy" behind burning everything they've created and leaving nothing behind...but it is kind of sad to witness... I am sure it feels differently on the Playa, where the BURN IS THE CULMINATION of the year long quest. (I so want to participate at least once...have to start thinking how to make it happen... ???)

I never got to see Adam sing BO live, and I would really love to have that experience some day.

I am just catching up with this thread (per usual) and didn't see any Brian Wilson.
I would have to have his "God Only Knows" on my list. Paul McCartney said once it is the best song ever written and that's good enough for me. It also inspired Lennon to write "Here, There and Everywhere. Parts of it are so intricate and beautiful.

I know I already did five songs...but I love this song by Pat Benatar... Hit Me With Your Best Shot. I love the line...'before I put another notch in my lip stick case...you better make sure you put me in my place...come on and hit me with your best shot...fire away!'' ;D
Got to go do some RL stuff!

Folks, if you have time - can you please post links with your songs? I am diligently listening to all posted, but searching on YT is confusing, as I am not sure I get the songs you suggested....
