I am so loving this thread today but I still can't come up with my list. I do want to say that, like so many of you here, one of my many favorites is In My Life. I love the way Bette Midler performs it. Here's a touching version:
Another favorite is At This Moment by Billy Vera & the Beaters. Here's a live version.

Ok not sure if they have been posted or not but these two are at opposite ends of style on the greatest songs continuum (cheese and sincerity). I couldn't even begin to name my top 5 greatest songs... Sound of Silence - Simon and Garfunkel wow, you brought it up from my deep memory ThANK YOU, bridgeymah! - I was at that Central Park concert! It was my very first experience, the first of so many wonderful CP events!

Choosing is hard lol! Going back over some of my favorite classics, I finally chose one to post that I haven't already seen here. Fleetwood Mac's Dreams.Love Stevie Nicks 70's voice and this one is definitely my fav from them. www.youtube.com/watch?v=YEi7GPkxfsE

Lulu -- you get extra points (worthless but cool to get) for selecting my childhood-adult friends George Thorogood and the Delaware Destroyers!!!
************************************************************************
Here are my picks for the "Greatest Song" list -- in no special order!
“Heart-Shaped Box” Nirvana This was a hard choice for me – because I think “It Smells Like Teen Spirit” also belongs on the list. But I forced myself to chose only one Nirvana song.
“Empire State of Mind” Alicia Keys & Jay-Z
“Suspicious Minds” Elvis Presley I was tempted to put both Elvises (or is that Elvi?) on the list. “Alison: or “(What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace Love and Understanding” would easily make my list of 10 songs but with only 5, I had to cut out one Elvis. So instead, here Elvis Costello performing Alison and Supsicious Minds at Glastonbury.
“Crying” Roy Orbison Roy Orbison is one of my fav vocalists but I think Katie Lang’s version of “Crying” is up to his level.
“Not Fade Away” Buddy Holly and the Crickets Here is a cover version by the Rolling Stones from 1964, so although the Stones did not make my list (no space) at least this seminal performance is my proof that “Not Fade Away” is a great song.

I already listed five, but I think this song should be in the Top 100. Bonnie Raitt's I Can't Make you Love Me covered by Adam at the Upright Cabaret.

Here's my third song. I was going to pick Placebo's version of Depeche Mode's I Feel You, but the true test of a great song is what it sounds like live, and I can't find any live recording of Placebo doing that song. Instead I'm picking Placebo's My Sweet Prince, a song about drugs, not a lover. This is an old concert, back in the day when singer Brian Molko would often perform in dresses. He has lovely legs, though you can't see them all that well in this video.
