Hoopla, LOL, I had no idea what that smiley meant until I clicked on quote and read the url! ...from a burner: the Temple is at 12 o'clock - - - with the Burning Man as the center of the clock, and 'camps' plotted out from 2 o'clock to 10 o'clock in a circle within a pentagon. Nothing but art is near the Temple or the Man.It's the building you can see behind the man that actually LOOKS like a temple--it's pretty! I only know about the base of the man cause I read it on the BM official website--they always explain the man (who built it, why it looks however it does each year) and the theme for the year, etc. I've watched the burn every year--last year the radio commentator during the burn was EXCEPTIONAL. Hope he/she is half as good this year! That's not the story I am impatiently waiting for! I want the celebrity story from Flagrant!

That's not the story I am impatiently waiting for! I want the celebrity story from Flagrant! Okay, in a nutshell, a male participant named Flagrant had a female BM artist friend who was amazed that a Hollywood celebrity group (Camp Anonymous, lol, located in a prime location) had approached her to ask her to bartend at their party. As he was cycling by later, said friend yelled at him from her bartending station and said come over and visit a minute. He then saw Ann Hathaway* and she said hi and gavea fake name and they lol'd (he had nothing bad to say about her except "Who wears pancake makeup and white linen to BM?") A few minutes later, a businessman-type came out and said he'd been working, F. said "You're at BM! You need to participate and party!" Guy said who are you, anyway? F said my friend here (bartender) flagged me down. Guy said "Oh, the bartender." F. said she's an ARTIST. Short story, guy said he needed to leave--it was a PRIVATE party. Lengthy discussion ensued between DJ and Flagrant about how people who don't understand the Ten Principles basically need to stay away from BM. There are NO private parties, everyone is supposed to be an equal PARTICIPANT, not supposed to be OBSERVERS. DJ said it's just a symptom of growing pains now that the event has become (too?) popular. DJ's plan was to kill Camp Anonymous with kindness, lol. This is just brief paraphrased version--it was actually a long and funny (and sorta sad) segment. Reminded me of an article I read earlier today. Growing pains indeed. online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424053111903895904576544981864448602.html?mod=googlenews_wsj

The wide shot with all the colors looks like an Adam Lambert concert!

This is probably appropriate for a burning neon man!

I just finished burning my little man in my back yard. It was very cathartic. I burned away some bad stuff and sent some positive thoughts and visualizations into the universe, too. Motto for new year: Love without caring. This is an article my friend emailed me months ago, and I'm really going to work on this philosophy. It (idea) may sound weird, but it really resonates with me. www.cnn.com/2011/LIVING/06/22/family.love.o/index.htmlBTW, how long do I have to post my 5 songs? I'm not doing anything more till the man burns--will I be too late? Deliberately didn't read the thread today so my song choices wouldn't be influenced, but I know it's gonna be a GREAT thread for me to dive into tomorrow! :D
