I slept late and missed the burning of the Trojan Horse, but took some screen caps yesterday, and I think this is momtomany's Trojan Horse: oh, now they are talking about The Dodos in BM webcast. Small world... You didn't miss it, auroroa. The live stream didn't show it. :( Mys*&@^#r, I watched the burning of the horse on your link to the livestream, but they didn't start until later than expected. I had no intention of staying up to watch, just woke up and checked just as they set it off. I think it was about 3:30 a.m EST if I remember correctly. It was still going strong a good 30 minutes after they set it off. Sorry you missed it.

At that point they hadn't shown a thing and it was the arrows I was most interested in seeing. Damn, DJ! He must have been watching something else burning, I guess? >:( I did have a dream about Adam though, and that never happens so, all's well that ends well! LOL!

I'm new and still can't post properly... Hope it works... I slept late and missed the burning of the Trojan Horse, but took some screen caps yesterday, and I think this is momtomany's Trojan Horse: oh, now they are talking about The Dodos in BM webcast. Small world... You didn't miss it, auroroa. The live stream didn't show it. :( I woke up this morning just in time to see the horse standing there, then suddenly it started shooting white fireworks diagonally from its mame, followed by a huge burst of red fireworks straight up off its back. And then it just started burning. It was impressive! ETA: mangokat, did you see the same thing?

I'm loving this challenge! It's going to take me a while to name five but I'll start with Unchained Melody by the Righteous Bros! Wish I knew how to bring it over! Somebody Please.

before I change my mind U2 "In The Name Of The Father" Here's the story behind this track as it is actually not a U2 song from "Into the Heart" a book giving the history of U2 songs. "In 1994, Bono became involved in film soundtrack work for the first time, co-writing three tracks with his old Lypton Village mate Gavin Friday and his songwriting partner Maurice Seezer for the Oscar-winning Jim Sheridan film In the Name of the Father. The highlight was undoubtedly 'Theif Of Your Heart', which drew a contemporary dance feel together with Irish melodies to powerful effect. There was a curious resonance from Edge's work on 'Captive' with Sinead O'Connor again handling lead vocals, and this time her performance is superb. The theme tune 'In the Name of the Father' and 'Billy Boola' completed an assured hat-trick that added significantly to Bono's stature in Hollywood." I can't find the reference now but there is a whole section in a U2 book somewhere that talks about how the rhythm sections of this songs are comprised of contrasting traditional military drums from both sides of the Irish conflict and how powerful the melding of those opposing music traditions are. I wish I had a better index on my brain so I could find it again.

cheriemelissa: Find it on YouTube. Copy the URL address in the bar at the top of the page: www.youtube.com/watch?v=qiiyq2xrSI0That puts the link in your post. If you want to bring the whole video over, highlight the link in your post and click on the YouTube icon (the one that says "Tube," first icon on the second row just above the post window) and it will embed. P.S. This is one of my faves, too, but we were only allowed five!

Q3, - very interesting topic for today - I am listening to everyone's selections and finding out that I am familiar with lots of these, only I had no idea what they are called or who performed them...so a great "education" day for me I can't help but notice that I see no "top 40" songs or pop songs at all. I wonder if it is our age showing or is it some other reason I have only one song to offer, because it is the only one that somehow penetrated my "classical music only" ears (Before Adam) to the degree that I found out who sang it and how that person looked: EURYTHMICS "Sweet Dreams" Knocking On Heaven's Door There are many different and good versions of this Bob Dylan's song. Here are two that I like: Finnish rock group Leningrad Cowboys and Red Russian Army ChoirAnd a comment from YT: If a Finnish Rock group can get together with a Russian choir to rock out to a song by an American folk singer, can't we all find a way to get along. aurora - this is mind blowing on the bizarre scale of things... NOTHING that Gaga possibly conjure will outdo this concert. Nothing.

I fell asleep and missed it too. I woke up at some point, 4 or 5 (?) ET and there was a fire. If it was the horse that was on fire, it was down to about it's knees. The horse looked so good and must a cost a lot to build, not to mention all the time put into the planning and building. Why did they burn it? I know it's Burning Man. Does that mean you have to burn everything? 4Msrmyn this is what momtomany says in the post you saved: atop.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=gotopost&board=daily&thread=468&post=88432LOL And when I was searching (as a Guest) for this post, this is what I had to write: katycake in this thread too

Thankyou murly for bringing the video over. I will use your advise and work on that today in the practice thread. Just listened to Everybody Hurts by R.E.M. and that will be my next pick. It still makes me well up when I hear it!
