It is an interesting theory but the timing doesn't work. This year's Oscar ballets had to be returned by Monday, January 14. I lot of this is because of the high-profile of the Oscars and Social Media distorting reality.
That is vote ended before the social media firestorm started.
There are 8,176 eligible voting members of the Academy of Motion Arts -- believed to be heavily Americans and old and not critics. They seem unlikely to be BoRhap admirers and less likely to be Queen fans. But that does not mean it can't win. Here is a fun explanation of the process of getting to be a voter and of how something gets nominated and wins. BoBhap could win Best Picture by getting a lot of #2 votes.
I think it is really unlikely that the Academy voters will pick BoRhap for best picture -- and if it happens, it will be a first for Queen -- a major award in the U.S. Yes, I hope it wins -- just not expecting it.
The Golden Globes are not similar to the Oscars. They are voted on by the the 93 members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association -- no Americans, lots of UK, AU, NZ, Japan, etc. -- about 50 countries. The outcomes are often different.
Voting closes on Feb. 19, and the awards show airs on Sunday, Feb. 24. I don't expect BR to win best picture but they and Rami can still be hurt with the voting by the firestorm and the Glaad move. Right?

Lots of industry people must have known about BS's "alleged" behavior for a long time. It actually seems like it was common knowledge. I'm beginning to agree that this current tempest does have something to do with: "awards revenge" of some kind? Sour grapes? Jealousy? Oscar angst? Desperation? The blame game? All of a sudden there's a kind of a blame-game panic going on. It seems as if the lack of awards (so far) for ASIB is really bothersome to Hollywood. And BR is turning into a target. And the BS baggage the movie carries is just frosting on the cake. I really enjoyed ASIB at the time, but there are other deserving movies nominated. If Hollywood is obsessing over it because of Gaga I seriously hope that ASIB won't take the trophy. There I Said It.

I bet Roma will be best picture but R A M I may sneak in for best actor.

And if Glenn Close wins best actress we all better pack up and leave town. The meltdown will be felt in all corners of the earth, lol.

If Hollywood is obsessing over it because of Gaga I seriously hope that ASIB won't take the trophy. There I Said It. Actually Gaga was the best thing about SIB. Her performance was the most impactful Female performance I Saw all year. The Nuances she found, and poignancy was so fresh. AISB felt a fresh, modern telling of a film that has already been adapted 3 times. And while BR had a few Deficiences in writing and dialogue. The Strong points outweighed that for me. The film was very compelling. And it felt like the story Queen wanted to tell. Not what the Media wanted. I have to say though the Casting was PHENOMINAL. Maybe best ever. Without that brilliant cast. I doubt Bo Rhap would of done as well as it did commercially. I actually think the gut who played Brian May, was very unluckey to not pick up a best supporting actor nom. As it is I doubt this backlash well hurt BR Oscar chances. If some ways Controversy can help a film, as they say all publicity is good publicity.
