I don't really remember anything that the major label did for WWFM that is not being done now, but it was a long time ago and I could easily have forgotten. I think WWFM's success had more to do with being right off Idol, not active marketing. Adam is doing every kind of promo that I can think of; radio interviews, radio concerts, television, magazines, physical billboards (Times Square for goodness sakes), iTunes banners, Spotify interviews ... all of it. He has never reached the level of success that allows for coasting for whatever reason, but he and his team are working hard to promote Velvet. The biggest snafus that I can identify so far are the physical CD rollout and his illness. Whether the general public and radio execs embrace him, it is not because of lack of effort and authenticity. RCA spent a ton of money on WWFM -- over 7 digits. It was in a different time and a different promo world, but that song did not just happen. That said, it was also a crowd-pleasing track, meaningful at the time, and really well sung and produced. Q3 do you have an idea of what the highest expenses were for and if they were listener focused or program manager focused? I don't remember much about Spotify then but of course iTunes was big so I'm assuming they did ads there. I think a lot of promo isn't visable to us listeners as an over all group but perhaps very visible to radio execs and/or local populations. Right now the Minneapolis station that's having him come for an event and playing him a lot is a nice symbiotic relationship.

Little hint about streaming on Spotify based on what I have gathered ... and please note that I am NOT a tech person, so I stand happily corrected by our streaming experts. Anyways, those who run their playlists and songs off a desktop App for instance and want to make sure that all these plays get counted as actual streams, it is important to play those songs off the web once in a while. Library plays get credited as streams every time you go back on the web. As I'm fairly new to Spotify, I think I need clarification on this post from a techie. What is "Library" play? My Playlists are in a separate section from "My Library". I'm streaming probably 12-15 hours a day on my laptop. I have NOT downloaded any of my playlists so aren't I streaming online? I have double-checked all settings and think I am definitely online even though I am using a desktop app which is necessary when using Safari. I haven't heard about Spotify wanting you to stream on the web to upload counts. I have heard that for iTunes I think where you can play songs you've downloaded w/o internet connection. I don't see Spotify wanting any user to leave their app, desktop or mobile. It's where Spotify has the most control and it wouldn't make sense to kick people off that to a web browser which as you can see from Sandyk's reply most users have a hard time finding. Spotify's desktop app is very much like their mobile - it's an actual program that you have to install on your computer and it requires an internet connection. Anything played there should be instantaneous counted as you don't download songs. Now for me I don't like Spotify's desktop app as it uses lots of resources on my computer. So I use the web browser version which is under open.spotify.com but I don't think they call attention to that option you pretty much have to bookmark it if you ever find it after opening up a list posted here or on a radio site. (those lists will usually ask you to choose if you want to play them in your app or on your browser). Whatever device or method you use to play Spotify knows what device you have going. You can have Spotify on both your computer and your phone but if you are logged into the same account then sound will only come out of one device.

Her reply said not standard for an EP and should be good on the full album. Hopefully she's right. Whenever that is.🤩 I'm betting that Empire has released very few EPs on CD. Just not done in the rap & hiphop world they've served in the past. I mean who besides a Glambert is going to buy half an album on physical media for a full album price.

I hope I wasn't too confusing, but luckily you got some answers. I would not mute the plays though.
