Jeremy Bingaman @iowaradioguy Des Moines, IA Radio & Web guy. Roller Derby junkie. Smart ass. Packers, Cyclones, White Sox Fan. Views are mine & don't reflect those of my radio station. klout.com/#/iowaradioguyiowaradioguy Jeremy Bingaman To Lambert fans: I'll pass along word that we should avoid the song we were sent. Listened to it and it wasn't very good anyway! 23 minutes ago Just a bit of trivia...this is the same guy who "broke" the news that Adam was going to mentor during AI Season 9. He wasn't pleased about it, either. americanidol-blog.com/is-adam-lambert-mentoring-the-idols-next-week/Don't worry, at least today this guy likes Adam and he even likes glamberts too. He's using the not very good in the same way that fans have. The production values are not what we expect of Adam's meant for pop release.

This is probably a stupid question, but I'm just thinking that the listening parties that Adam had early this morning with all these print and media people. Anyone thinking that it was also to have him appear in these magazines as well? Well I don't' mean just appear, as in a blurb or something like that, but I mean in a featured article like the RS, Out, Advocate etc. magazines were. Or are these people he was meeting from just regular media, like a newspaper or something, and not real magazines? I've said it many times, but I'll recap: there is a very long lead time on national magazines. Remember, both the OUT for December and Advocate for November were shot/interviewed in August. That's three/four months, which is about right for a "topical" story (they can't be so far ahead that it's old news by the time an article comes out, but it's a huge machine and it also can't turn on a dime). DMG is very heavily print-focused. Pitching to magazines is something PR/management does, not the label. This very quick Google search will show you how many magazine covers Katy Perry has been on – it's in the hundreds, I'm quite sure. Some are international, some are women only and some are probably regional, but each one involved management facilitating the interview and if not photo session, release of stock photos. www.google.com/search?q=katy+perry+magazine+covers&hl=en&client=safari&rls=en&prmd=imvnso&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=cv25TpS2E8GyiQLuuPzwBA&ved=0CCcQsAQ&biw=982&bih=551&sei=%20lf25ToCpN5DViAKJoNWABQPR reps strive to develop close relationships with editors and producers and if they have worked with them on more than a few occasions, editors will usually go out of their way to find placement for their clients IF its a viable story. Because DMG is a VERY small agency and because Katy has been on the cover of so many magazines, I don't doubt the principals at DMG have the primary editors to all the magazines in the link above on speed dial. Now, if they were pitching Clay Aiken to RS, they're going to get an, "Erm ... no." But they are pitching someone that has PROVEN can sell magazines, is game to do GREAT, inventive, OTT photoshoots (as is Katy – see some of her covers), is incredibly photogenic and is a great interview. I am not exaggerating when I say an intern in their second month could book Adam a national magazine cover – I am SURE of that. (So long as it's built around an "event," such as an album/single release.) This trip though was likely layered. If the RS interview happened in the UK, then it's print. But I think he was mainly meeting with radio and TV peeps, with music-related shows. ETA: Sorry, Marie, got sidetracked and didn't directly answer your question: Yes, I think he's doing print interviews (RS, most specifically). My guess is it would be for the February issue. I'd bet it's the cover. I'm sure DMG would push for it and they have a case to get it. He could very well be doing others. They keep these things very tightly wrapped, usually (until we get lucky, like today \o/)

There is a good rumor source that the RS interview was done in LA. That makes more sense to me than London.
I wonder/hope he is getting another cover. Totally a fan wish -- and highly unlikely unless this music is as amazing as the tweets from London makes it seem. These are not Glamberts or Adam supporters. So it is possible. I believe. I believe. I believe.

Thanks Susie and Q3.
Yeah, that's what I was talking about, not just RS but for a lot of other magazines, to coincide with his Album release. I was thinking that he was having the meetings today, so that they can be released Jan-Mar 2012? or something around then. And that maybe it was for double reasons, music and interviews for magazines.

Totally a fan wish -- and highly unlikely unless this music is as amazing as the tweets from London makes it seem. These are not Glamberts or Adam supporters. So it is possible. I believe. I believe. I believe. Magazines need to move product as much as TV needs ratings and websites need hits. Adam has proven himself a hell of a lot more than Schnookie. If they are doing a profile, a cover is usually part of the core negotiation, unless the profile is part of a "list" issue. And still management will often angle for that. I've said from the beginning, I think the only reason RS "scorned" him during the FYE/GNT era is because they were waiting for him to "prove" himself. In the meantime, they turned their back on some international politically fused stories that should have been right up their alley (him defying a Islamic boycott of homosexuals and playing to an arena of 16,000 fans in an extremely conservative country, for starters). At this same time, they kowtowed to reality stars and flavors-of-the-month. He has stood in the face of a tumultuous social movement, stared down adversity, toured internationally and been given one of the greatest berths (and budgets) from one of the largest labels in the world. Meanwhile, he's collaborated with A-list talent and legends who have raved about him. Why the hell wouldn't he warrant a cover??? He's not just a musician, or a gay celebrity, or a pop culture figure or a very engaging and complex profile subject – he is all of those things. I think it would be asinine for him NOT to be on the cover.
