Unless it would be a gesture to Sauli and/or his family while he is in Finland... Oh, now you're just gonna make me sad that we'll never get vid of Adam singing at a Koskinen family gathering, just like we never got vid of Adam singing at Brooke's wedding... Re the Xmas song "debate," I'm also an atheist who loves many Christmas songs. Little Drummer Boy NEVER fails to make me cry! And O Holy Night is incredible when sung by someone who does credit to those notes. I think Adam has been pretty clear that it's a no-go for him, but if he ever changed his mind, I wouldn't judge him for it. And of course I would BUY a copy of that CD right away! Same here! "Then he smiled at me..." Tears! Even though I don't believe in the story, I still find it moving. I also tear up when Linus explains "what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown." WHAT THE HELL KIND OF AN ATHEIST AM I?

Kindles, tablets and similar devices have made it more affordable for people to buy books and read. They make it possible for people who are vision impaired to read again. And they are providing a glorious new for format for books, integrated entertainment and learning materials. I think we are watching the birth of a new form of rich text book and it is a great thing.
I met my husband in a bookstore, he is in the "book business", we collect books and are proud of our traditional library, but for an entertainment novel -- the kind of used to buy and read one - e-books are perfect. Also e-books are perfect for reference texts, business books, and so on.
-----
Count me in as another sucker for White Christmas.

Aside from 'Little Drummer Boy' my other favorite Christmas song (or at least it is on one of the Christmas albums I have) is "Ave Maria' sung by Eddie Fisher. Just amazing !

My family celebrates Christmas all together with a huge Chirstmas Eve dinner and get together. We never, and I mean never, sing Christmas carols! So, assuming the Koskinen's are going to be sittting around singing Christmas songs is, I dunno, a little weird to me! :-/ We need to ask Miachichu about this! I can't speak to the Finnish Christmas traditions, but I am half Danish (Mother's side) and we have always celebrated a traditional Danish Christmas which includes singing Danish carols! Even tho my mother is now the only Danish speaker in my NZ family (my Dad has learnt a little tho) When I was a kid, we used to hold hands in a circle around the tree and "dance" (walk) around it as we sang!! ;D Dont' do that anymore tho! I actually kind of love the cheesiness of it!! Would be keen to hear how the Finns celebrate by comparison!

Thank you all for the birthday greetings....it is so heartwarming to check in and see the best wishes. A common love bond that brings us together from every corner of the world...I may not be a poster, but I laugh and cry and marvel over the "news" presented each day. Much appreciation!!

Is it the line " I played my best for Him, pa rum pum pum pum.... " that gets you? That and the end of It's a Wonderful Life... bawling like a baby every year like clockwork. Curious though, who sings the classic version? Last year I tried to find the version I used to hear on the radio and couldn't. None of the others sang that line with the same passion. Some were close with the boys chorus and sounded similar but it drove me crazy trying to find it on youtube with no luck. ~Sappy agnostic One of my favorite classics...with Bowie no less...see Adam?

OT, except we have been chatting about what Christmas songs we love and want Adam to sing. My all-time favorite is an obscure one written by an Atlanta musician named Cy Timmons. I have it on my computer and would like to share it with others by putting it on YT, but, I do not know how to do that. If anyone can help me, please PM me.
Thanks.

I have been so busy with moving and entertaining company that I have had no time to post...or even lurk...but have some time tomorrow I hope, to at the least, lurk. What I am asking for [INVITATIONS TO ANYONE THAT CAN MAKE THIS ADAM-RELEVANT :}] is.....can we invite ideas for the perfect xmas cd....Bowie and Bing are a perfect choice, as is the Fisher Ave Maria. What are some other favorites? Any hidden gems???
I trust you all and I have wanted the perfect Christmas CD for years. I am happy with a mix of the secular and the sacred...I am like so many of us here, athiest, but I appreciate good music regardless ...
hugs to everyone....off to catch up on the last few days...
