Q3, since Adam will be on Idols next week with 24,2 million viewers, can we make new guesses for the date of 1 M followers, please? That would be nice, right? I guessed in June and I am sure he'll get 1 M way before that!! :D My 1st post on this site to say that (yes!) I may win the twitter contest as I predicted 05/05/2011. Though I'd be happy if he got to 1M sooner than that. Btw, I was jadebell on the previous site and PF, but have changed it to jadedzpf in line with my twitter name. Can't wait to see AFL on idol next week. Sqeeeeeee......... |

I hope this comes across how I mean it... I haven't watched AI, so I haven't observed this James myself; however, I have pretty strong feelings about giving people who are in this type of competition a pass because of some physical or mental problem. If you choose to compete, then you should compete on an equal footing with everyone else. Some reasonable consideration such as helping a blind person find their mark on the stage is one thing, but i come down to how well do you sing and how well do you present yourself as a performer? Part of what I dislike about Idol (and why I do not watch it) is all the backstory/sob-story stuff. I am not interested in that - show me how well you can sing. The absolute worst case of this was on DWTS when they had the woman with the false leg. Yes, she certainly was able to do far more than I would have expected with her disability, however there were much better DANCERS who were sent home before her just because the voters (and the show's judges) were saying/thinking "It is amazing what she can do with a handicap" - while that is true, that is NOT what the purpose of the show it. If someone chooses to compete on one of these shows with a handicap, then they should also have to perform at the same level as those who do not in order to do well on the show. I realize that the "voters" obviously do not agree with me  but this crap highlights for me why I dislike these shows. Thank you .. I'm not suggesting that he get a pass, just that he doesn't irritate me as much as he does some people (at least not yet, this could change at any moment depending on what young, artless, thoughtless thing he does next). I really mean that I'm not sure he's as arrogant as he is young, or as douchey as he is artless. But I sure as hell ain't voting for him (I've never voted for anybody but Adam), and I don't think he's going to manage the stress of this competition very well- at which point he should and most likely will be sent packing. |

I am so excited that Adam will be watched by over 24 MILLION Americal Idol viewers!!! And especially singing acoustic Aftermath which is my favorite on the live EP and one of my favorite Glam Nation concert songs. Should we be watching for a bump in his acoustic live EP numbers or album #s? Hmmm.... don't remember seeing any acoustic live EP numbers. Maybe I should peek into the numbers thread.

I SO have no problem with what James Durbin said:
"We're completely different people stylistically, tone-wise. The only similarity that we have is the high note."
That is the EXACT gist of what Adam tweeted:
"[W]hile we both have a rock scream I think we're pretty different stylistically."
I'd have a problem if Durbin said he WAS just like Adam.
And: "He [Lambert] put his foot in the door; I want to try and put my foot straight through the door. He did some rock, I LIKED IT [caps mine]. I want to do some metal like Iron Maiden, ACDC, Ozzy, Sabbath."
Nothing wrong with that - it's COMPLIMENTARY. Just as Adam said Cook's experimentation on AI opened the door for him to change things up, Durbin is saying Adam doing some classic rock opens the door for him bring in the metal.
It'll be interesting as hell, to me, to see how that works.
Adam has shut down some comparision questions (Lord Gaga, anyone?). Durbin is reacting to hearing all the Adam comparisons, he isn't dissing Adam AT ALL.
Gosh, I hope he doesn't get any misguided hate from Adam fans.
He's just saying they're different. Which Adam said.
IMO he deserves to be in the Top 10 absolutely.
ETA: Are Glamberts already commenting negatively about him on that article? :-[
Q3 comment: The discussion of James Durbin is closed. I closed it on page 23 and am posting this message to make sure that people do not respond before the read the thread.
OK to talk about Adam and James when it involves Adam. But if you want to discuss James and whether or not he belongs on AI10 -- that cannot be in Adam News -- because it does not involve Adam.
There are many more James comments in this thread and, for the most part I am leaving them BUT resist responding. Thanks.

LOL.. You know what I didn't think he did all that bad the last time he sang either.. young, artless, douchey, arrogant or clueless.. whatever.. I just don't want to see passes given because he has some condition.. getting though the rounds because of them is not fair to the contestants that don't have something...The guy is here to play for some big stakes. I feel the playground should be leveled.. we'll see what happens..... maybe I sound callous but, all these back stories are really played up to the max..and it is so old. ETA... welcome jadedzpf |
