Conversations here at A’topia are pretty interesting… yesterday it was Nekkid Adam and starting to veer into smoldering ground… woops Adam diverted the masses with announcement- Acoustic Aftermath at Idol on the 10th. Just in time, all that steamy energy was channeled into mass flailing…. Adam is a shaman…
Today… hhmm.. it’s The Wild Child is Wet… ahh …there is nothing softer and weaker than water, dripping sweaty water…. But there is also nothing more ferocious and moving than water, dripping , sweaty water…
Then comes the very cerebral discussion of digital music distribution and the major labels management of this…
And a side dish of a discussion on , rock , and all its permutations.. metal, alternative, glam, anthems, or whatever ....
You guys are somethin’ wonderful

New on YouTube today, but not new. In case you missed this interview, 6 great minutes of Adam talking and looking gorgeous. Person said they uploaded it because they couldn't find it anywhere. Adam Lambert - SYTYCD Australia - Backstage Interview - 03-04-10 I remember this interview!! I loved it! When he didn't know who Natlie was... OMG! So adorable. Then of course, the line, "I want to be big down under. I'm not saying that I'm not.." He is such a naughty by!!!!!!!

"I am compelled to respond..... Led Zeppelin as in WLL is heavy metal -- Metalica as in Enter Sandman is thrash metal -- What is the problem with Adam doing metal?" I'd LOVE to see him do Sweet Child of mine or Black Dog...to start off with I know you want him to sing the whole thing his own way. Is there another "Black dog"? Edit: lol It would help if I actually posted the YouTube.
My multi-tasking failure.(I am posting photos in the timeline here, I just added the "Black Dog" video over at the old ATop in the 2010 Mardi Gras post and I was about to put the backstage SYTYCD vid here, again.)

If memory serves, I think Adam said, as he approached his Nokia performance "I got nothing" - he was sick and had to make the performance happen . . . He said it after. I don't think Adam has ever admitted being under the weather before a performance. (Although Neil has spilled the beans.) It was also his "opening night." The first night of full press and reviewers. How he stayed so healthy through that many performances is really amazing! I was at both Nokia NY Shows -- you could tell Adam was hoarse during the first show when he spoke, but there was not gap in the performance. I talked to Neil at length after the first show and, when I asked if Adam was not well, he said Adam was fine. He also told me that Adam had done a ton of press before the show -- over 2 hours of interviews before he went on. The same thing happened the next night -- making the intermissions both about 1 hour. The second night I talked to Neil before the show and Roger after the show, and they both said Adam had a sinus infection. But honestly -- Nokia NY was one of the best shows I saw. Adam shaved off some of the high notes but the crowd was amazing and there was so much energy in the room.

Many of the great metal songs just lyrically do not fit with Adam IMO. For example, DDD lists Iron Maiden - "Hallowed Be Thy Name" as their #1 Metal song. Adam could certainly kill on the vocals but these lyrics just do not fit him.... I'm waiting in my cold cell, when the bell begins to chime. Reflecting on my past life and it doesn't have much time. 'Cause at 5 o'clock they take me to the Gallows Pole, The sands of time for me are running low...
Running low--ooohhh... When the priest comes to read me the last rites, I take a look through the bars at the last sights, Of a world that has gone very wrong for me.Plus this music is 30 years old and just not current anymore. www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vP2hFFV57EThere are other metal songs that I can see him singing -- but, no, I do not want Adam singing any of these gallows songs.

I have been being nostalgic this evening and reliving my first GNT (Hammond) via Indybeck's wonderful vids. It's so nice to have these to go back to. I grinned ear to ear throughout Aftermath. It is such a sweet and happy song. Adam's directions to the sound guy in this version are just adorable. www.youtube.com/watch?v=2sVbuLeJWI8&feature=youtube_gdata_playerI can't wait until Thursday so 24 million viewers can feel this kind of joy!!Alison, Thanks for sharing this "Aftermath." I had not seen that one, and it surely shows his energy, warmth - and joy! That performance, along with the interviews shown here in the last few pages, really show what an extraordinary person he is - and why we all love him so much... Also, Alison, I love your daughter's idea of an Adam/Steven duo - you never know...

When I said Adam's sweet spot vocally is class rock I didn't mean he can't sing other genres. The beauty of Adam's voice is that he can sing anything. I dare say, if he wanted to, he could sing country (and do it brilliantly).
I think Adam's voice has dirtied up a bit since he was 22 and singing Come to Me Bend to Me and I gotta honestly say IMO it's doubtful that he could do that today. It's a jaw droppingly gorgeous performance though and it takes me to my happy place everytime I comes on my ipod.
I'd be shocked if any artist from idol could be taken seriously as a true rock artist, metal especially.
I would kill to hear Adam sing Sweet Child of Mine or Mama I'm Comin Home by Ozzy <------ all time favorite song!!

Thank you, Adam gives us a taste of what he could do with this song, which is one of my all time favorites. This might be a bit OTT but a friend sent me this and it reminded me of one of my other obsessions plus our earlier discussion here www.youtube.com/watch?v=bMltvlqEM54

Someone posted this interview yesterday (NoAngel, I think) and I bookmarked it but didn't watch it until now. It's 24 minutes long. I'm pretty sure I've seen it before, right when FYE was coming out, but it is soooo good. 24 minutes of Adam talking is beyond sexy! v.youku.com/v_show/id_XMTM1NzIzMjI4.html

I remember looking back into the venue several times and everybody there was going wild for him! :D
