This story of this man at the station concert really hits home today for me. One of the sons of an extended family member just sent me a long Facebook message telling me that he is gay, something I have been pretty sure about for some time. His immediate family is very conservative and strictly religious, and although I believe they suspect he is gay, some of them come from a "love the sinner, but encourage him to overcome the temptation to sin" type of mentality. He is beautiful and sensitive and talented, and I believe he doesn't open up to his family completely because he doesn't want to hurt them.
I have tried to create openings for discussion with him when we are together. I think he has always been a bit drawn to me for some reason, probably because he knows I've always had a soft spot for him. Ive shared with him my admiration for Adam Lambert's music and for the way he lives his life partly to let him know my own views about issues I think may be relevant to him. Today, I just received a Facebook message from this kid, who moved away from California to another city to attend a conservative college, (I believe at the suggestion of his family) telling me he is gay and feels alone and angry because he sometimes doesn't feel safe in the city where he is... heartbreaking and scary.
I wish I had better answers to give him. I wish the world would always show him better answers.
I love Adam for his music and talent, but I also love him tonight for showing his real face to the world and for having the courage and honesty to be himself, to walk the walk and not give a f*ck.

I think she has been living there since the divorce, right ? Wasn't she there when Adam was on AI ? :  Yes, but she's been in LA for a while now. She or he even talked about it in Behind the Music (I think.) Yes, she definitely said she sold her place in San Francisco after Idol to help Adam out. And rumor was he did buy her a condo in the L.A. area too. She goes to L.A. stuff all the time – all his talk show appearances, parties, Prince concert, she was out to dinner with Sauli and his sisters last week ... I kind of doubt she flies down from SF for all those things. And though Groundcntrl is based in Sacramento, the artists people don't need to be there. They would need to be in the proximity of the artist. Also, when Leila recently adopted her dog, it was from an L.A. benefit. |

Adam's mom was living in San Francisco for a few years and was there when Adam auditioned for Idol. She moved to Los Angeles to help/work for Adam during the Idols LIVE Tour and was there for a couple of years.

Hoopla in that twitlonger, she said he talked about his OOFTA tatoo. Do you remember what he said? That was from the 99.7 show tonight--which I wish I'd tried to go to, but that's the one they supposedly held at a ~sekrit location, so no one could find it unless they had tix. So now I wanna hear/see what he said about the Oofta tattoo! And Willow, if you can, JUST GO even if you don't win tix! The marketing director/guardian of the "winners" list was a bear at first, then said I could put my name on a list, in case, but don't count on it! I was just nice and friendly and said I'd be patient and hope--then I visited with her sweetie daughter (the one who asked the Bieber question)--then I went to the bathroom, and M and T came in screaming and jumping up and down and said "They said you could go in!!" We left the bathroom and the little girl came bouncing up to me with my VIP pass/necklace and I gave her a huge hug--she seemed as happy as I was that they let me in. SO SHOW UP--MAYBE YOU'LL GET LUCKY TOO!! Melliemom, Adam asked if he knew the guy who attacked him, and he did--he said they found out who he was, reported him to the police, and that they were following up. He started tearing up again in the foyer after the whole thing when I talked to him, and I said, awww, you need a hug--hugged him and said I hope ADAM'S hug made you feel better today--he said Yes, it did--and I got a SUE HIS ASS from him! (You really would not believe how sweet Adam was. Wait--yes, y'all would. 'Cause you KNOW what a kind person he is.) AND THANKS TO ALL OF YOU FOR YOUR THANKS! YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IT MEANS TO ME TO HAVE THIS PLACE TO COME TO--WHERE I CAN SHARE MY EXCITEMENT AND MY JOY! ILH--and YOU GUYS--SFM (And with luck, thx to Q and her amazing team, I'll catch up on everything else I missed today!) Did anyone do a plain Adam Lambert twitter search today? I KNOW some of the peeps in Lawrence took pics/some vids--I just don't know them online, so can't look up their stuff. :-/ |
