I miss having consistent Adam coverage. The GNT has def spoiled me. However, I know he needs the off time to create. He needs to have time away from fans to connect with himself and create. One of the things that we all admire about Adam is that he does not seem to be strapped into his public persona. He is a real person. He enjoys and appreciates the fandom, but he recognizes that as wonderful as it all is, it does not define who he is. It's good that he can just enjoy "normal" life and separate himself from "the business". He and we will be better for it.I know, I know but......

Hi y'all-- Just checking in to say I loved the mellow thread today (and the wicked pic thread yesterday, which I wanted to roll around in and plaster all over myself--too much info?). I shudder in horror to think of the six months of so of Adam-silence that might loom ahead of us now that his last known scheduled appearance is behind us, but the quiet inspires some beautiful things from you all. I especially loved all of you, starting, I believe, with Carla, and including, most recently, Tuscany (wecome, Tuscany!!! *waves madly*) who jumped up in support of crazaysexayadam. I can't overstate how much I loved the way he looked in AI, but I've been growing increasingly :-/ with all the chatter in the fandom about how he's grown more confident and is leaving his "weho days" behind him (whatever that means) and is maturing etc etc and I feel like stomping up and down like a petulant child and screaming "but I LOVE immature Adam" which is of course not at all what I mean and I totally respect those fans who like the cleaned up, natural, less out-there look best. But I do love what Lynne (I think!) talked about in her lovely post yesterday about the childish Adam--the joy and excitement, and the happiness to be silly. So the thread today just made my day--I love all of you and big hugs all around for loving this natural, beautiful Adam, and mad happy silly GNT adam, and every possible Adam in the best of all possible worlds which is surely this world as it has our Adam in it just the way he should be. And WORD to those of you who say, reassuringly, Adam always changes things up--the one thing we can rely on is the unexpected. I don't care what he does with the next album--I have full faith in him that it will be simply wonderful--but I do have one specific wish: please let it be, if only in parts, weird. I love that Adam is happy to be weird sometimes, just as I love that he's happy to be mainstream and accessible and easy to like. I love the combination. And I truly madly hope that he feels free to keep it weird, on occasion, going forward. Now, on a totally different topic--I apologize for it's OT-ness but it's come up here before and slow day is slow so I thought y'all might be interested: I saw a great, entertaining movie today at the SXSW film festival--Morgan Spurlock's new documentary (he's the guy who did Supersize Me). It's called The Greatest Movie Ever Sold, and is about product placement in movies and on tv. It's pretty hilarious and clever--it's premise is that Spurlock wants to make a movie about product placement that is completely paid for by sponsors who's products he places prominently in said movie, so the whole flick is about the process of doing that and is pretty hysterical. It comes out in around a month and I think you guys would like it. I know we talked about this with reference to the new Britney vid and Katy Perry's comments and Adam's use of the sony tablet thing in the IIHY vid. Spurlock's movie is certainly not blindly damning, and is a lot of fun, plus it features a surprise appearance by my boys from OK GO, so that was exciting. Anyways, if you're interested in this topic, keep your eyes open for the movie--I promise you'll get plenty of laughs. Okay, nuf blathering from me. Might go snack on some astonishingly healthy apple pie, um, I mean, go watch the Strut vid some more. Hugs to you all...

For anyone interested in twitter numbers, Adam has gained 1637 new followers in the past 12 hrs. When album #2 comes out I am crossing my fingers that at LEAST half his followers buy the album the first day of release. I hate to say it, but I think you're setting yourself up for major disappointment by assuming twitter followers = music buyers. That just isn't the case. Lots of reasons, but the biggest one being how many people will likely download his singles or album for free rather than buy it. Not his hardcore fans of course, but among just regular people who follow him on twitter because they took an interest in his music or because they just thought he was interesting, it is likely to be the rule rather than the exception. Yes, it's certainly not automatic. I follow many people who I think are funny or interesting, yet I haven't bought their product(s). However, it's not the complete reverse either. A significant component of that number IS a committed fan base. Another component is at least an ~interested share of the market and it's still a great tool for building word of mouth. The true value of Twitter is the ability for the artist to talk directly to his or her fanbase, and therefore, fostering a "personal relationship." I've heard quite a few interviews that stated committed fanbases will be a huge cache going forward as music sharing and outright pirating grow more rampant. If an artist can form a "personal" bond with his or her fans, the less likely they are to rip them off. It's not instantaneous and we're still playing with fractions, but if the core is solid, that's a major power base.

We are torn between wanting him to have time to himself for creating, or just living, and wanting to see and hear him as much as possible. It's a conundrum (luv that word) for sure. :-/

Guess I had better lower my expectations even more. It is fun though, and rewarding in a way, that Adam is going to have over a million followers on twitter! :D When album #2 is close to launch time, I like many of you here, am very excited and curious how he uses twitter and his new followers to help propel it to a pop hit.

i'll have to ask him for it. it's not on his reg YT acct, it's on an auxiliary acct. he is a YT partner and he's not allwd to put footage of concerts, which he did in the review. i'll dm him now. edit: sent him dm, but realized he's at his boyfriends house in jersey so he may not respond so quickly. he must be tweeting fr his phone so i may not get a link till tomorrow. Thanks, OK, he dm'd me the link. let's see if I can embed. He talks a little tech, but ah, memories. And I got a shout-out. (The person he's talking about in the front row is me.) His laugh is infectious, isn't it? Robert says, "sensual, sexual, exciting...and the voice, the voice, the voice". and "how can you improve on perfection?" "it was an experience". "something magical" "exhilarating"

I have a winter emergency kit in my car with blanket, hat, scarf, to keep warm, couple bottles water, snax. Never know when you'll go off the road, or get stuck in a blizzard. :( Add: Copy of deluxe edition FYE and acoustic cd, portable CD player, and a 32-pack of AA batteries.
