I can't help it, Trespassing's slide down the chart is painful to see :( It hurts me too because it is such a f*ckin amazing Pop album!! It deserves to be heard and bought! Yes, it does!!!!!

It is a f*ckin amazing pop album!
And I know I am a biased fan, lol, but I also feel like it is an album with GRAMMY potential. But, can a mainstream pop album get nominated if it isn't a commercial success? Or if it doesn't have a big pop hit? I know it isn't an issue for Rock artists, or Indie artists, or those older, iconic artists. But, could Trespassing still get recognized? And, to be clear, I am talking about where things stand at the moment; obviously the single could connect on CHR and pull the album back up. I am just curious; it's something I have thought about because I believe the album is that good.

Five adds between hac and chr isn't great, especially since early adders are decreasing their spins. Sigh...I didn't expect Adam to race up the charts this era, but I didn't expect him to struggle this much with radio this time either. I'm wondering of BTIKM's lack of success is affecting NCOE because NCOE fits perfectly on chr. PD's may be reluctant to play it or add it since the lead single didn't do well. I don't know...just really confused as to why this song written by Bruno Mars and produced by Dr. Luke is struggling. I've got to admit that I find this mystifying as well. I expected a long haul up the radio play charts (even WWFM and IIHY took a while to gain momentum), but I really thought that NCOE would have gotten a better reception, especially since RCA got input from radio regarding the choice of the next single after BTIKM. Here's a theory: maybe the Idol effect is more at play here than we realize. Looking at the last several seasons of Idol, the winners/runners-up have largely been one-hit wonders (except Season 9, who went nowhere from the start) -- good response to first singles/albums and then a steep fall. I wonder if radio PDs have been conditioned to view Idol contestants as having a very short shelf life; meaning, they will have strong audience appeal for about a year, and then they lose most of their fanbase when the next Idol season starts. The fans then left to an ex-Idol may be loyal, but are too small in number to warrant attention from radio (except for generating hits on websites). If radio PDs view Adam in this light -- just another ex-Idol contestant following the usual audience trajectory -- then it would make sense that they would be reluctant to believe playing his music is going to help their ratings. I could be all wet, of course, but I'm having a hard time coming up with another theory. I don't believe that the major market PDs are homophobic (after all, they played WWFM and IIHY). The reason must be related to the perception of radio PDs that playing Adam's music won't support/increase ratings. Maybe they think his target audience doesn't fit their desired demo. Or it could be that they think his audience just isn't big enough. And maybe it all comes back to Idol. Sorry for the long post. ETA: Just to be clear, I am not giving up hope, just speculating. I am still requesting and voting like the rest of you. Sirius and Boston are good adds this week -- expecting to see some spin increases this week.

I know this has probably been asked before, so I apologize in advance, but can someone tell me where I can look to see whether a station has played NCOE? I noticed that on their website, KBIG (LA) has NCOE on their playlist, but I haven't heard it played. I'm trying to figure out whether/how many times they actually played it. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks!

My husband is now saying. WTF? Why am I not hearing Adam on the radio. This is a casual fan that knows an album is out and questioning lack of play. I'm holding it in and not saying much....but he is right...where is he???

KBIG has not played NCOE on air, but has played NCOE online on iheart radio several times, that might be why you see it on their playlist but not their mediabase forms. Hopefully that's a good sign? I don't know how to look up plays that don't appear on mediabase past a day or two, but the spin-watchers have noticed the online only spins.
