For me (for you for me) the Freddie / Adam (or Adam anyone) comparisons are just nuts. "Adam isn't Freddie" we no shit.
I truly think the only opinion that matters about who should play Queen music is - well Roger and Dr. May (and Paul if he was still involved). They are the creators they are the surviving team members and co-founders. This wasn't Freddie's band and the others came along - it was in every sense a collaboration of equals all bringing their full selves to the table. So really I don't care what any fan (including Adam fans) think about whether Adam should be up there. The remaining members of Queen have spoken and I for one am just happy to listen and enjoy.
I think the way they have presented this shows both their respect for Adam's abilities and his role - It isn't Queen. It is Queen + Adam Lambert.
(returning to obsessively listening to concert performances now).

Freddie is Freddie, Adam is Adam, Plant is Plant et cetera. They all are awesome and there is no need to compare them IMHO. I personally love vocalists like George Michael, Robbie Williams, Dave Grohl or Chris Cornell and I don't want them to be like Adam and vice versa. For me it is like trying compare "Mona Lisa" to "The Night Watch" - IMHO utter nonsense.

I hope it is #1 tonite again... the TOP 10 is airing now... and if Adam will be #1 again... BTR will play about 6:50/6:55pm (time in Brazil).... now it's 6:18pm... So was By the Rules released as a single in Brazil or did the djs just take it upon themselves to play it..?? I love that song. IT's got such an island feel. IN other news,: How the hell I am getting anything done this week is beyond me. [/IMG] This Queenbert stuff is killing me. I'm up till all hours just staring at videos. [/IMG]
Hello... I have been addictively listening to the MP3s of Kiev and while driving an hour this morning to a meeting was struck by the fact that they really must bring this show to US... one night only. Do the Garden in NY, do somewhere a stadium that can fit 50K people because after these performances, the press and the buzz will make it the hottest concert ticket in years! I'm getting the feeling that Queen will bring the concert to the US. The QE concerts ended July 3, so let's cross all our fingers. ;D ;D ;D ;D

And my husband, who still has family living in Poland, says in passing the other day, "oh we could have gone over and stayed with my family and then you could have gone to that concert." smack to the back of his head. what!? Well a little notice would have helped, LOL. I can hardly wait for him to come here! Either as Queenbert or on his own Tresspassing tour.

Yes I finally found it! I have a Mac. I thought it would go directly to iTunes, but it didn't and it's sitting in a folder. Not sure how to move it to iTunes now.. it's a MPEG4. Thanks for asking! just drag the file onto your itunes icon in the dock...it will automatically go into your itunes library. Oh now that's really simple.. who knew! : Thanks for the tip.. will come in handy I'm sure.

As a Queen fan and a hard rock fan (but not a vocal expert as you), I agree with you, cassie. Exactly my thoughts but I dared to share it not to confront. In fact I'm bored with the actual setlist, I have heard most of the songs live several times. When the tour was announced I created a setlist based on Adam's vocal range and didn't take acoount the overplayed hits. Most of the songs were not hard rock songs and I would have been interested how Adam could handle them. Some example:

Also while Freddie had a different tone etc and was a baritone, I think Adam well knows he will just have to deliver his tenor voice and mixy transitions when necessary and accept that he's not going to get a dirty sound from it without damage. Freddie was a tenor! Some people will never be happy either way though. I've read people saying he oversings on Trespassing! Gimme a break! Trespassing album and promo is the most restrained I've heard Adam in a looong time, the FYE had a LOT of OTT vocal antics and while I loved most of them there was some oversinging and unnecessary high note wankery here and there as even Adam himself admits. I think there's a sweet spot between both eras that Adam will find as he better adjusts to the TP material live. I'm looking forward to it :D :D
