Way back in the age of the dinosaur, I used to bemoan that movies cast actors in singing roles and then had the voices dubbed in by unknown and often unacknowledged singers. I remember watching My Fair Lady and wondering why they did not just go with Julie Andrews, who was masterful in the part on Broadway. But, as a long time fan of musical theater, I have to say that casting actors in singing roles and having them actually SING the roles is even worse, for my viewing and listening pleasure. I could buy into the fantasy that Audrey Hepburn was singing rather than lip syncing. How do I NOT hear that Crowe cannot sing that song as well as someone from the local community theater?
I understand that some, perhaps many, cannot hear a distinctive difference, and can thoroughly enjoy the movie. But, you know how many of you say that Adam "ruins" songs for you? Meaning, after you hear his version of Mad World or Feeling Good or Come Home, the originals just don't cut it any more? And how about when you say, "So-and-so sounded okay, but can you imagine ADAM singing that song???" Movies that do not cast for great voices as well as great actors are like that for me.

Hugh Jackman isn't a singer per se, even though he's appeared on Broadway. I think that is Adam's point though. There are PLENTY of actors who are both brilliant actors AND can also sing at the level this particular musical requires. I think Adam, as a stage actor for 15+ years, was trying to make the point that there are plenty of good actors that are also good to great singers. Broadway and live theatres around the country are full of them! Of course, the press and gossip sites have to twist his meaning around and make their ridiculous headlines attention grabbing. I'll bet Adam corrects them tomorrow too! which was also the point I was making, wasn't it? :dunno: I love Anne Hathaway and was actually most interested in seeing her in the movie so I'm glad to hear I won't be disappointed in that performance. I also find Amanda Seyfried to be a lovely actress and quite enjoyed her singing in Mama Mia so hopefully she's good in this as well.

Adam Lambert @adamlambertOne more clarification: DO go see it for Anne Hathaways performance. It's was breathtaking. I saw it today! He is right. Anne Hathaway's performance was brilliant. It is a very moving and powerful story. I caught the man sitting to my right drying the tears from his eyes. Crowe just didn't have the voice for Javier, and that was all I could think of when he was singing. I think Hugh Jackman did a fantastic job, but some of the songs were even a little too much for him. I didn't like Cosette's voice at all in this. But even though I didn't think some of the singing was the best I've ever heard of these songs, I thought it was very good, and would highly recommend it. (imo)

Ubud is a place for all kind of arts and he can get a lot of arts to decorate his new home and silver jewerly to add to his collection.
