While I in NO WAY agree with Harvey that this INCIDENT ;D can be referred to as domestic abuse, I can see his point concerning the warped views from society as a whole when it comes to domestic abuse among same sex partners. I assume the public might also view physical abuse to be less worrisome or valid in lesbian relationships, due to the fact that a woman is beating up another woman. It must be especially difficult for abuse victims in same sex relationships. So I can tell that I am not explaining myself well and so am coming off all wrong in some instances. This is definitely a topic which can be discussed at length. I'm kind of rambling...just thinking out loud! The past week and the different opinions and the input from fans and others in the public have caused me to think about some things I've never considered before. I agree, in theory, but I've been wondering over the last week if this means gay men are allowed a certain amount of physical fighting in their relationships that wouldn't be allowed in opposite-sex relationships. I'm not sure about this and wonder how the majority of gay men view fighting (when it crosses over to a physical nature) inside of their relationships? Yeah- I feel the same. I'm not worried about Sauli and Adam and what went on in Finland. I haven't watched the long TMZ video either, but Harvey's question did make me think and led me to some questions that remain unanswered at this time.

For sure. I wasn't referring to "THE INCIDENT" [dun dun dun] either when talking about wrestling for fun. But I guess that if I were to follow the analogy then it might not be that different from two brothers fighting in public to the point that the police have to be called. My point was more that when two men do anything, it will be different than when a man and a woman do something similar. I don't want to take the thread too far off topic (we're probably on to the next day's thread anyway...), but I feel a need to comment on this. Tigerlily, I agree with everything you said here and in your previous post stating that the fact that Adam and Sauli are in a romantic relationship changes the fighting to something different than two guys wrestling for fun. But I also agree that(for a whole bunch of reasons, including the fact that they both participated) it should NOT be categorized as domestic abuse. I want to add (and this does not really relate to Adam, but is just another aspect of this topic), that there are men in relationships in which the woman is the abuser. People are aware of this, but I am sure it is difficult for some to understand. And there are very few resources for single fathers in a situation in which the mother is the abuser (physically and emotionally) and is using the child as leverage. I've had previous personal experience with this through one of my sons. I think it is so easy to generalize and label (and I'm as guilty as the next person of doing those things sometimes), but the reality of things is usually more complicated than many people want to acknowledge. I know that it was same sex relationships being discussed, but this is another case, IMO, where many people would question the existence or validity of this type of abuse when in fact it does exist and can be devastating. So...important subject matter, but inappropriate and wrong to use Adam as an example. But I will also say WE DON'T REALLY KNOW (and shouldn't know, IMO) the actual dynamics of Adam and Sauli's relationship. ETA: I see the topic is still ongoing -- hadn't seen the latest posts when I wrote this. And I didn't watch the TMZ video either, haha.

Please view this as constructive criticism from someone who has lurked on PF then on here. Certain days The Diary of Anne Frank is a musical comedy compared to the angst that goes on here about nothing. I know criticizing is not permitted but it is impossible for me to keep my mouth shut tonight. Some of you love to wallow in misery and worry. Tonight with real life kicking my ass it was just too much to deal with perceived problems when so many authentic ones abound. If Adam worried half as much as some of you he would need a crisis negotiator to talk him down from the HOLLYWOOD sign. I know, DON'T LET THE DOOR HIT ME IN THE ASS. [grins] I'm gonna have to remember the phrase "certain days The Diary of Anne Frank is a musical comedy..." from here on out! Gonna be a keeper. In all seriousness, though, sorry your RL day sucked so badly. Have a lolly. Hoppers,I know you're already gone, but doesn't this sound somewhat *familiar*??? hehehe As in Hal..fie???? Might just be me, but I am thinking so...or maybe just hoping so. Who knows????? *Better Than I Know Myself* ??????????? So wrapped up in this song right now...can't even talk about it...wow...

I'm not sure about this and wonder how the majority of gay men view fighting (when it crosses over to a physical nature) inside of their relationships? I'd be curious to know that as well. I'm sure there would probably be a variety of opinions, but I wonder what the majority would say. Until the subject was brought up here, I hadn't really thought that there would be more tolerance of physical fighting between gay men in relationships than between heterosexual couples. Now I'm wondering, although I'm still skeptical.
