Amsterdam....the concert that keeps giving... OMG, yes. Speaking of favorites...Amsterdam really blew me away. Especially since I think it was the third performance in a row, following incredible performances in Paris and Cologne. Rad, where did you find this gif? LOVE it!! Love Tommy's eyes following Adam, haha. I still have pangs of missing the GNT. Again, an incredible creation by Adam. And regardless of majority opinion, Adam and Tommy are still my fantasy of choice. I just found them so hot together. ESPECIALLY in Amsterdam. As someone (don't remember who) recently tweeted re Sauli (and I'm paraphrasing a bit probably) "I'm happy for you Adam, and I'mma let you Finnish, but..." LOL -- that tweeter also preferred the Adam/Tommy fantasy. As long as they're not tweeting Adam and Tommy about it, I don't see the harm in that. I get a little tired of the Sauli gushing, even though everyone has a perfect right to do that. But I personally don't think it's any less offensive to tweet Adam about the great sex he must be having with Sauli in Bora Bora than to tweet him that he should kiss Tommy on New Year's Eve. I'm actually happier when I don't think about Adam's personal life so much, but I admit that sometimes...um...often,...it's hard not to. And the Adam/Tommy fantasy was really created by Adam, beginning with the AMAs. And reinforced with onstage (and occasionally offstage) interactions such as this: bit.ly/g0jxawAs someone here recently said, Tommy is really a puzzle, and that's part of what makes his interactions with Adam fascinating to me. If there's ever a tell-all book of the tour, I wouldn't be able to resist it. Anyway, sorry to have gone on about that, but I haven't posted much since we changed boards partly because the Sauli/Tommy 'fan wars' were pretty off-putting and I found it upsetting. Not everyone who prefers FANTASIZING about Adam and Tommy (and who appreciates their unconventional friendship, whatever it is) is delusional. Obviously, Adam is dating Sauli, and to me he appears to be pretty much head over heels for him. Good for him, he deserves it, and I'm sure he was particularly vulnerable to falling in love after the incredible work and stress of the last two years. I've had some feelings of potential disappointment though, because I was worried that Sauli was more of a distraction than an inspiration in regard to Adam's all-important second album. I personally was happy when Adam said the album would probably be a little dark, because I really loved the idea of Adam working through all the crazy stuff he's gone through in the last year. When Sauli came along, I worried that the whole album would be sunshine and puppies and love songs and for me that's just not as appealing. At this point, however, I'm regaining, for the most part, what for me has been a mostly zen attitude about Adam and his career -- I have a certain amount of faith in him and in his creative instincts, and I generally feel complete acceptance for whatever he wants to do. But it did bother me a little bit when he said that he had to go back to his journal to remember how he felt last year during the more difficult moments. That sounds petty on my part! I don't at all begrudge him his happiness, but I want him to process whatever he went through last year and put it into his art. I might be totally off base with all of this, I don't know. I'm trying to achieve more balance in my own life, and I'm being forced to cut back on my stanning anyway due to 1) starting a new job, and 2) my 22 yr. old son, my youngest, moving back home with me for a while. There were quite a few great conversations here during the last month that I just couldn't participate in due to time constraints. I really do enjoy much of the discussion here. So, probably going back to mostly lurking -- the excitement of seeing Adam and the band on AI brought me out again the other day, but really need to spend more time on my own life. Hope I haven't offended anyone with any of the above feelings/thoughts.

I hate to say it, but I think you're setting yourself up for major disappointment by assuming twitter followers = music buyers. That just isn't the case. Lots of reasons, but the biggest one being how many people will likely download his singles or album for free rather than buy it. Not his hardcore fans of course, but among just regular people who follow him on twitter because they took an interest in his music or because they just thought he was interesting, it is likely to be the rule rather than the exception. Yes, it's certainly not automatic. I follow many people who I think are funny or interesting, yet I haven't bought their product(s). However, it's not the complete reverse either. A significant component of that number IS a committed fan base. Another component is at least an ~interested share of the market and it's still a great tool for building word of mouth. The true value of Twitter is the ability for the artist to talk directly to his or her fanbase, and therefore, fostering a "personal relationship." I've heard quite a few interviews that stated committed fanbases will be a huge cache going forward as music sharing and outright pirating grow more rampant. If an artist can form a "personal" bond with his or her fans, the less likely they are to rip them off. It's not instantaneous and we're still playing with fractions, but if the core is solid, that's a major power base. I find this whole question of how much of a fanbase is invested and buying very interesting. There was a New York times article going around about software designed to determine fan investment using social media, but I don't remember if it got posted here or not. here's a link to a twitlonger of the article: www.twitlonger.com/show/946bfgIt's worth a read, Adam would be a great case study to implement something like this that would capture fan behaviors across AO, AdamLambertfans, and all the separate non-official fan spaces. Adam also should be the admin and owner of this info, so that even if at some later date he goes with another label he retains this information and fan data.

And WORD to those of you who say, reassuringly, Adam always changes things up--the one thing we can rely on is the unexpected. I don't care what he does with the next album--I have full faith in him that it will be simply wonderful--but I do have one specific wish: please let it be, if only in parts, weird. I love that Adam is happy to be weird sometimes, just as I love that he's happy to be mainstream and accessible and easy to like. I love the combination. And I truly madly hope that he feels free to keep it weird, on occasion, going forward. Coming from a city whose unofficial motto is "keep Portland weird" I totally agree with this. Weird is interesting, weird pushes boundaries, weird is contradictary and complex and unpredictable. Art (at least non-derivative art) is weird. Adam (regardless of how he choses to dress and do his hair and sing at any particular time) is a weird and wonderful person and will no doubt continue to be. I also reject any assumptions that a cleaner cut style reflects "maturity". People clothe and adorn themselves to feel beautiful and strong. I feel beautiful and strong in black boots that lace up to my knees, gothic jackets, and artsy vintage skirts. Put me in a girlie sundress and summer sandals and I feel awkward and exposed. Although I may well be the only person on #teambigeargaugesarecool, and look forward to sleeve tattoo action, I'm equally happy and delighted by the Adam we just saw on AI, because I recognize it as a choice he made, not that was made for him. And just 'cause I'm feeling my oats today, I'll leave this quote from Adam's Hollywood Reporter interview: www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/adam-lambert-promises-campy-more-166821LOL rabbitrabbit--Austin's motto is Keep Austin Weird, too. My husband's a reporter, and once wrote a story on all the cities that have that as their motto--turns out there are quite a few (including "Keep Erie Weird"). A colleague point out to him that almost all the cities were Southwest Airlines destinations, and he earn a pretty bit of bonus-cash retooling the story for their inflight mag! But I totally agree about the maturity comment. And while I'm at it, I don't find crazy-adam any less beautiful than clean-cut-adam, blondes-adam any less serious than tux-adam, dtrh-adam any less musical than gnt-soaked-adam, sleeve-adam any less sweet than no-eye-liner-adam, nor SydneyMardiGras-make-up-adam any less real and/or honest and/or from the heart than AIaftermath-adam. And I've wanted to say for a while that I always appreciate your voice for the alternative in these threads (I mean, we're all a little alt in our tastes or we wouldn't be here, but it sounds like you really know what you're talking about). If I'm honest, I'm mostly wanna-be weird (a couch-crazy), but I do love me some crazy in my entertainers! Bed-time for this bozo. Night night, lovelies.

I know it's high fashion and all that, but I had to say WTF with some of those hats for men. I'll just go down on record as saying I kind of hope he doesn't jump back on board the BSC train with one of these babies:

My take on the ‘fans’…. new or renewed, or whatever… that have stepped on the rollercoaster because of Adam’s understated look and performance on Idol. ARE YOU SURE YOU ARE TALL ENOUGH TO RIDE THIS RIDE?
There is a chance you are going to get hurt, or fall off, or hurt someone else. You are going to shit your pants and want off. You are going to puke up your vanilla cone and your hot dog. It will be messy. This isn’t a kiddie ride.
Adam isn’t a Club Sandwich. He is the newest creation on the menu. He is the fusion dish that a Club Sandwich eater would never try. He is a Korean BBQ Pulled Pork Taco with Wasabi Aioli. And next week he may be something very different. He is spicy… and you’re going to need a big ass bib and a huge glass of cold water to get it all down. He is an ever changing menu and the biggest and fasted ride you’ve ever been on. All in one man.
Are you ready?

ksha518, all of us experience Adam from our on context. Adam, as an artist creates an illusion that allows us to venture into fantasy worlds that RL will never provide. As long as we can differntiate the fantasy from reality, I don't see a problem with how any person chooses to interpret Adam.
None of us have any real idea about the Adam/Sauli relationship. We may have hopes and expectations, but only Adam and Sauli know what is really going on. However, Adam has been very adamant that his relationship with Tommy is fan service. They are friends, not lovers.
Whether Sauli is a distraction to Adam #2 will remain to be seen. That being said, if Adam finds true fulfillment in life with a life partner and never becomes a big artist/entertainer, then I will accept that Adam is happy in his life. Life is all about choices. In my own experience, heart choices are very fulfilling and last a lifetime. I have not regretted my heart vs. career choices. It's up to Adam.

And there's something weird about all of us. I think weirdness is or should be a badge of honor as long as the weird is tempered with self awareness. Adam has a gift. He is not afraid to march to his own drummer, and yet he is easily able to blend and charm even the conservative skittish, just because he is pure at heart and utterly sincere. And the fact that his talent and good looks are like honey to bees makes his attraction all the more potent. But there will always, I believe, be a part of Adam that is uncomfortable with fitting in too deeply... Which keeps him on the edge, and is what makes him unpredictable and exciting. He likes to annoy people, he likes to challenge perceptions, but he does it all with a wink and a smile. I'm rambling. Sorry. Weird is good.
